Through his writing and lectures, Sam Phelps, Jr. has received many columnist, preservationist, conservational, environmental, and national wildlife federation achievements and awards.

Due to be released in September 2016, the Legacy of Mad Sammie, is filled with Life Stories of the  beloved writer.

His book, Feathers and Fur, Volume I , an anthology of some of the best columns from the first three years, was published in 2006.

His second book, Feathers and Fur, Volume II , an anthology of some of the best columns from 1964-1966.

In Feathers and Fur Volume III, 1967-1969, his writing evolves into a style unto his own. With his humorous ways, he educates us about our world, whether it be; birds, trees, land, water, soil, laws, you name it…. anything and everything.
